On a recent trip to Blounts Creek, North Carolina, I passed this unique mailbox.
I was so intrigued, I had to stop and take photographs!
I guess I'll have to start saving my extra large Ball jars.
We get so much junk mail, I would need a couple of gallon size jugs strapped to our post!
Don't you wonder what happened to their previous mailbox?

Hahaha... I have seen a couple of interesting mailboxes out this way maybe I will have to stick the camera in my bag next time I venture out. I would be worried the glass jug would break in the cold or that a teenager would be tempted to take a BB-gun to it.
hahhaah i do!(wonder what happenend to their first mailbox) maybe they were like, "this mailbox isnt shabby chic enough, i know lets use a mason jar"
lol
hey i dont know if you are interested but that soapnut giveaway thing is going on, its a pretty big container of cleanser. just if you wanted to enter:)
ttyl say hi to all the animals for me:)
That made me laugh out loud. It reminds me of the Jeff Foxworthy joke that they painted MALE on their box, and no one in the family noticed, except to say that shouldn't "male" be capitalized...
Here in CA, you can't just use anything, but I would suggest maybe a chicken feeder or a covered litter box if the need arises.
Oh my that would have caught my eye also. Funny what we see riding down the road!
Funny, I've never seen one like that lol...
Wait until a "mailbox baseball" team comes down that road!
My Mom had an enormous mail box on her farm until a "mailbox baseball team" decided it was an easy target. Now she has a normal one. I betcha that's what happened to the owners of the jar. At least you can see if the mail has arrived yet, Very practical!
Ha ! that is classic !
Mailboxes in general intrigue me as we don't tend to have them much here in the UK.
I've never seen one like that!!! Is it even legal?? I know there are laws about mailboxes....hmmmm.....
Thanks for being brave enough to get out of your car to take pictures for us, lol!
That's quite a clever and unusual mailbox! Although it's certainly not very private, you'd always know whether or not you have mail!
Only in the country does one see ball jar mailboxes, toilet stool petunia holders, and bathtub flower beds. Gotta love the simplicity!
Liz (aka Ninny)
That gives me an idea: I should put a smal garbage can out for a mial box! Then the "junk mail" will take care of it's self!
;-)
That's pretty inventive - But seems like it would be a target for young hooligans with baseball bats.
it's kind of cute isnt it?
