Chickens in the Basement

I love to write and I love to laugh. When I write, I get to the point quick. My stories would fit on the back of a postcard. They usually make me chuckle. And you know what they say, "It's all about me!"

Top 10 Things that Bug the Crap out of Me

Okay Miss Renee from Of Lemons and Honey! Too many smiles and good-intentioned blog posts from the New Year have brought out the snarky, sour-lemon side of you. I can't leave you out there alone, so here's my list of things that bug the crap out of me!

1. Speaking of bugs, I despise a litterbug!

2. I hate it when somebody pees on the toilet seat and walks away. What makes them think I want to clean up their mess...that is assuming I saw it before I sat in it!

3. People who move to the country then complain about the deer, dogs, chickens that have always been in the country.

4. Telemarketers, especailly at dinnertime!

5. People lacking a sense of humor and the ability to smile!

6. Whiners! If you are older than 3, you are too old to whine. If you're older than 40, you should get a spanking when you whine. (NOTE: my list of 10 things that bug me does not count as whining!)

7. Places that only serve Pepsi products. I'm a Diet Coke girl!

8. Parents who allow their children to behave badly.

9. People who pass me on the highway, only to pull in front of me and slow down. Or even worse...pull up beside a car and go the same speed, hence blocking the entire highway!

10. When stupid blogger decides my photos should be seen sideways instead of the way I load them!

Thanks to google images for the pictures used in this post! Isn't it amazing their photos never upload sideways!

What bugs the crap out of you?

Updates!

Blonde Moment

I told my Mom, aunts and cousin about the conversation Kim and I had and my lack of understanding her analogy of vision loss. All 4 of them thought the same thing I did. How does her brain know it is 9:00. Blonde-ness is inherited! By the way, none of us have blonde hair!

Another Bird Story

The hummingbirds are coming in pairs now. They survived the snap frost last week. Within a few weeks, they will be having sword fights over our table on the back porch, trying to keep all others away. One hummingbird really needs to drink 2 cups of sugar water all by himself.

Talking Dirty!

Tony read my post about the nasty toilets in our house. It dawned on him that he was rather tired of our plunger-required toilets. As fate would have it, a plumber came in to his office the same day, and Tony told him about our dilemma. The plumber told him about a toilet that complies with the water conservation laws, but has a wider hole to "allow a football to pass." The plumber's words, not mine! It will be installed in the next few weeks. Yea!

Diet Coke Rules!

It has been three weeks since I started drinking two cups of water before I'm allowed to have a Diet Coke. While I have cut back on the number of Diet Cokes I drink each day, there is another advantage, too. Before, I would get up 3 to 5 times every night to pee, usually only a cap-full, but the urge was enough to wake me up. I noticed earlier this week that I have been sleeping through the night without any bathroom trips by the light of the television.

Diet Coke Rules!

The title of this article can be read in two different ways. Unfortunately, it is NOT "Diet Coke Rules! Woo-hoo!" but "Diet Coke rules...1., 2., etc."

First, confessions. I LOVE Diet Coke. It is my only internal vice. I don't drink beer or wine very often. I quit smoking in 1990. Drugs would just slow me down. An occasional trip to Starbucks is a special treat, but not an obsession. Diet Coke, however, is my obsession. I buy 10 cases at a time when I find them on sale. I planned to walk to the One Stop in the snow for Diet Coke if I ran out before the snow melted. I wipe out a 12 pack every two days. This does not include the Diet Cokes purchased in drive thrus or gas stations. I never get in the car without grabbing a can out of the fridge in the garage.

Okay, it is official. I am addicted. It is not my intention to quit drinking Diet Coke. Lord knows I don't want to be solely responsible for the drop in Coca-Cola stock. I do plan to reduce my intake of Diet Coke. There is no medical reason for doing this, only my thinking that 'too much of one thing is not good.'

So, my plan? Before I am allowed to open a can, I have to drink two 8 ounce glasses of water. If I am just thirsty, this will quench my thirst. This amount of water will surely clean out my system. Since I tend to spend much of my day wondering where the closest restroom is, the additional intake of water shouldn't increase this need. At dinner, I will drink water. This should make my food taste better. And finally, NO Diet Coke after 6:00 pm. This should improve my sleep habits. I tend to wake up many times during the night (quite often to make sure my toilet is still where I left it!)

Hopefully, this plan will not make me grumpy over lack of caffeine. I can still have the drink that I love, but will have the benefit of getting in at least 8 glasses of water a day. I will save some money by not going through Diet Coke as fast as water through a sieve.

Once I hit the Publish Post button, I'm committed. Do you have advice or ideas to help me stick to this? It's only nice to share!

Note: Diet Coke photo came from their web-site and bathroom sign came from Google images. Thanks!
