My Favorite Photo

Our family has a getaway house on the Pamlico River on Blounts Creek.

Several years ago, we spent New Years Eve there. It was cold and quiet. No dramas. No late night parties. Just us and the dog. On New Year's Day, we bundled up in all the clothes we could find, jumped in the boat and went for a cruise.

The water was so smooth and reflective, you sort of lost yourself in the water. It was hard to tell where real life started and reflections began.

We fantasized over some of the houses that were for sale...especially the ones with pretty river frontage.

As the sun began to set, we headed back home. This silhouette reflection was gorgeous!

But the best shot of the day came when we interrupted a blue heron's hunt for fish. As he flew off, we got this shot. Even his reflection is beautiful!
