Chickens in the Basement

I love to write and I love to laugh. When I write, I get to the point quick. My stories would fit on the back of a postcard. They usually make me chuckle. And you know what they say, "It's all about me!"

Flowers, Goats, and Pollen, Oh My!

Here in North Carolina, we always know spring is here when our loblolly pines release their pollen. The world takes on a yellow haze. It usually takes a good rain to wash it away. Then, we have to hose or blow off the porches, garages, cars, etc. to officially remove it all.

This hand print is on the hood of my car. Who needs finger print powder when the pollen is out. I suggest all bad guys stay away from my house!

I need to schedule a trip to the car wash!

I accidentally uploaded this photo, so thought I would show you what I posted on craigslist today. It is a beautiful entry table. Unfortunately, the base has water damage and it needs some repairs. It's been on my list of things to do for a while and I'm trying to slim that list WAAAAY down!

My May Apples have really popped out this week. They grow wild in the woods behind my house. They are one of my favorites. They are dusted in pollen. It was 90 degrees yesterday, so I wonder if that will lengthen or shorten their season. Cough, cough, sniff!

This is my small leaf periwinkle. It is slowly covering the ground in the island out front. More pollen! AAACHHHHOOO!

I hadn't even noticed my cherry tree was blooming until I was out walking around with my camera. The color is a little off, but I like it. The actually blooms are a pale pink.

Look who came to visit. Neighbor Mary has a new goat. Her name is Daisy. She is adorable. She walks on a leash and every now and then throws in a jump and leap. Very cute!

Daisy waited with us for the big yellow bus! No school for baby goats. She did go to church for Easter and passed for a baby lamb. City kids are easily fooled!

Funny, the pollen here just made me sneeze, then I see your blog post!

Oh the goat is adorable! I used to go to a place called Wagon Camp as a kid. It was located behind the animal shelter, and took in all kinds of abandoned farm animals. We girls used to take the goats out for walks on leashes. It was fun!

Looks like Spring has sprung in N.C.! Beautiful!

Same pollen situation up here; makes my nose itch just looking at it.

OMG, look at that sweetiepie. I tell you, I simply must have a goat some day.

Another 90* day here, then it will plunge to the 60s for the rest of the week. My heat lovers will be very bitter (but not I!).

I love baby goats! One of the animals we had on our farm were fainting goats. Have you ever heard of those? They are hilarious, go to You Tube and do a search for them. Daisy is so adorable!

Periwinkle!! That's what's growing in my back yard!! F*** this pollen! That may seem a bit extreme, but my sinuses are very messed up. Headaches, sore throat, stuffy nose. Grrrrr....

My dog Kota wants a daisy goat! Daisy is adorable! What a neat neighbor..

Thanks for visiting my blog on the greeting cards. Always love hearing from you.

We also have tons of that yellow stuff on the cars, houses, trees, everywhere. If I had a car wash company I would offer $5 rinses (wouldn't do much good to get a real good cleaning now so a rinse would at least clean some of that gunk off the cars for a while. It could include the windows being cleaned).

Have a great week

I've seen that yellow pollen before...we had a pine tree in the front yard of a house we lived in and I collected the pollen in a jar to show kids at school. Ninety degrees?! Love it! But, beware, cold is comin back.. the front passed through here last night and tonight it is pushing it's way through the south all the way past Nashville. Love the goat!!! Oh, those sweet little faces!

Ah, Daisy makes me miss Gracie. As for the pollen--I think it's worse this year than ever. One weird thing, though--it doesn't affect me. Guess after 18 years of living in the Mississippi countryside I've become immune. Although when I go to a large city I'm totally affected by the smog. Aaaacckk! I've gone 'neck. DERN IT.
