Chickens in the Basement

I love to write and I love to laugh. When I write, I get to the point quick. My stories would fit on the back of a postcard. They usually make me chuckle. And you know what they say, "It's all about me!"

Fabulous Auction Fix!

Saturday night was spent at a country auction! I'm thrilled with the goodies I got. Keep in mind that I'm only showing you a fraction of the hats I got. I'm going to keep my mouth shut and just let you look!

Okay, you know I can't keep my mouth shut!

All of these photos were taken at SuzAnna's Antiques!

I had to borrow the beautiful Hathead Tina for my model.

Hathead Tina belongs to Debra who has a fabulous booth at the shop!

Of course, live models are always best. Thanks Jenny!

But, the shop was rocking so Jenny had to give up her modeling career and wait on customers!

Thanks guys for letting me use your props and background!

I'll shut up again and let you continue to look!

Milk glass was abundant, too.

Somebody's hard work will be passed on!

Santa was too dang cute to pass up!

Pretty dishes make me happy!

I'm not sure what this is, but I liked it!

This is my favorite purchase of the night. It's a vintage yardlong. The photo doesn't do it justice!

There are loads of other goodies in the basement, but my memory card was full!

I do love me a good old country auction!

I just adore those hats! There is a charity shop here in town that has the most lovely vintage hats that I am always tempted to buy, but Justin always says 'no, mom!'

Gret buys, I am soooo jealous!

I think that thing you didn't know what it was was an ashtray holder. (Yes, and now someone can hit me over the head because of that first sentence). Look, there's nothing in the world you can do with all those hats so you have GOT to send me that green one, and when you start getting tired of most of the others you can send me those, too. I cannot BELIEVE the stuff you've been getting at these auctions! Why in the world do you want to travel to B'ham when you've got all the good stuff up there? I think a trip to NC is a MUCH better idea!!!!!

P.S. Your comment on my post today made me laugh out loud and I'm still chuckling. I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT!

There were at least 40 hats in that lot. I thought there were only about 10, but after I won the lot, the girls kept passing me boxes from behind a green box (which I also got). I was thrilled!

You are one lucky ducky! What a lot! And I love "Hathead." She's beautiful -- such a face for hats.

And I love Jenny, too. Good to see her smiling. And WHAT, pray-tell is that lusciously large pink thing behind her in the photo? A giant piggy bank?? What is it? Save my squinting eyes.

Fun post and lucky you.

Oh, honey, you scored big time!!! I am drooling over the plates and the milk glass. I have a milk glass collection and I make bonbon stands out of the plates. (I posted pics in my blog once.) Anyway, wish I had been there with ya!!!

THE HATS! OH EMM GEE! Do you sell thoe sin the booth? Iv entranced by the Big hats 'oh, no I need on of the big hats with floppy brim...and a really nice hatbox' (My FAVORITE line from "Crazy In Alabama) from the 40's and 50's but can NEVER find them! You made out like a bandit! The dishes, EVERYTHING! I too like the Santa! My friends think im retraded picking up christmas and halloween stuff at Goodwill in Feb, BUT if im doing another vintage christmas what the heck do they know!

I wish I had known you when we cleaned out my mothers attic. I gave a bunch of hats to a little shop in our town for her tea parties with children. I think there was one almost exactly like the yellow one. You scored big time!

Oh, I hate you so.

I will BUY that rose print from you. I will.

I love the hats. Damn you for making me look at things I can't have.

But I will buy that rose print. Seriously. I'll throw in a puppy/chicken/stuffed animal.

Off to sob now.

Coulda done without all those hats. Really. But I like that thing that looks like a votive holder. We do a lot of tea lights. They just make the place look a bit nicer instead of burning bright light bulbs sometimes.

I LOVE the title of your blog!

When I was little, members of our church often gave farm produce to my dad as a way of "thanking" him for being their pastor.

Once the "produce" was a live chicken. We literally put her in the basement overnight until she could be prepared for the cooking pot the next day!! She even laid an egg for us that night.

I found you from a comment you left at "A La Carte" Love what I see over here - - - think I'll follow you, even to your chickeny basement!
