Chickens in the Basement

I love to write and I love to laugh. When I write, I get to the point quick. My stories would fit on the back of a postcard. They usually make me chuckle. And you know what they say, "It's all about me!"

Happy Mailbox!

My mailbox has been a happy place! Between my blogging buddies, a year-long swap and e-bay, my mailbox is busting at the seams!

Amber from I Heart Everything sent me a goody bag filled with really cool things she made, recycled or re-purposed.

Everything was wrapped up in this BINGO sheet. I hope she won something!

She made her own greeting card...the record is made from an old computer disc. Amber actually drives an old rambler. Color me jealous!

She created these stickers (Rick zoomed in on the robot ones within seconds of coming home from school!)
She made the magnets out of left-over supplies at the sign shop she works at. Everything would have been thrown away if she hadn't used it! Way to keep our landfills less crowded!

She threw in a couple of cute little chicks, too!

Speaking of chicks...I couldn't leave out this cute photo of Melvin!

The swap I'm doing is Year of Enchantment. Each month, we have a different theme and partner. We create an ornament and send it, along with some goodies, to our partner.

When I opened the box, these were on top...

Knowing the boys would be home from school any minute, I quickly photographed the chocolate and hid them on top of the fridge....ssssshhhhh!

Sandy (The Faerie Whisperer), my partner for this month, sent me some fun owl goodies. Her friend did the two small drawings. The silver owl will soon be dangling from my necklace! I caught Rick eye-balling the small pin. And the little owl perched on a twig is just adorable!

These two sets of rubber stamps will get lots of use! You can't beat flowers...

and birds!

But this cutey was the pièce de résistance. Do ya'll sense a theme here? Vintage buttons, wire feet and a feather tail make up this cute little chick! (How do you like that? French and Southern Belle in the same paragraph!)

Cora Bell keeps an eye on Shakira and Melvin from her perch in the hen house!

Donna, a blogger buddy from a neighboring town, sent me this CUTE bag she made. She said she found the fabric in her stash and thought of me! It is the cutest little bag. I love it! Make sure you check out Donna's blog, Dobco. She also makes the prettiest quilts!

Look at that cute yellow belly on Melvin! I didn't have my camera with me this morning when I opened the door for the other chickens to head out. Melvin jumped up on Shakira's back like he was the king of the mountain!

This is a vintage cherry pitter. I was on e-bay looking for one because the one I bought a few years ago fell apart. I was going to buy a new one, but when I saw this one, I bid one dollar and forgot about it. A few days later, I realized a 1 was beside the WON column. I was thrilled to see this cute cherry pitter was coming to live at my house!

Thanks to all of my buddies. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning when I open my mailbox and discover piles of boxes and envelopes! Hope your mailboxes are as happy as mine!

Great digs! This is partly why I like buying a few things on a regular basis on eBay. I love getting goodies in the mail!

So glad you liked the purse. I just love making them and when I have someone in mind it makes it even more fun. I know I have probably 20 hanging in my sewing room right now and more cut out ready to be sewn.
Have a great week!

Hey! Guys! Look on top of the fridge! Thanks for the gourd seeds and post card. I was about to leave this morning when Mike went to the mailbox. He didn't check it yesterday, and my parents called as I was driving home. They had been to the VA about my dad's leg. They may be operating....again! They stopped by for dinner (take out Chinese.) So Mail didn't get got. But got it as I was leaving. Thanks!!!
