Chickens in the Basement

I love to write and I love to laugh. When I write, I get to the point quick. My stories would fit on the back of a postcard. They usually make me chuckle. And you know what they say, "It's all about me!"

Scavenging!

I must be part buzzard! I spent an hour this afternoon roaming the trails behind my house...

and scavenging various mosses and lichen. The beer bottle was tossed on the trail by a passing car. Nice, huh? The Diet Coke can was mine!

I even found two of the four wings of a tobacco moth. You know I couldn't leave them!

I'm hoping to use this lichen to color a terra cota planter. I'll let you know if it works. I think you mix the lichen and buttermilk in a blender and paint it on the planter.

I use this moss in various crafty things. It's perfect hair for a fairy!

Don't you know...everything looks better when you store it in a vintage McCoy planter!
Aren't ya'll glad you won't have to clean up my house when I eventually go to the old folks home!

Such good stuff!!! Let me know how that works with the buttermilk and lichens. I think that looks so cool but I've never tried the 'recipe'.

When I had more free time, I used to go hiking in the local foothills and always picked up neat things I found.

Yes, let us know how the moss brew works out, I've heard it does amazing things to terra cotta!

And hey, if the paint idea doesn't work out you can always just eat the stuff. I really do mean to start DIvesting my stuff but instead as I get older I seem to do more INvesting in stuff!

What fun! Great way to clear the mind and search for treasures at the same time.

Glad to see Melvin is growing like a little weed. Your last post was so cute with him.

Have a great weekend!

Great finds! Love the wings! Does the lichen grow on the terracotta after it's "painted on"? Interesting, I too would like to know how that turns out.

I would like to be a fly on the wall when my family clears out my stuff after I'm gone.

Moss also looks really great in vignettes under glass domes. You just have to be careful of the bugs that come along with it:)
