Chickens in the Basement

I love to write and I love to laugh. When I write, I get to the point quick. My stories would fit on the back of a postcard. They usually make me chuckle. And you know what they say, "It's all about me!"

My New Favorite Actress

Over the holidays, I accidentally rented 4 movies with the same actress in it. Each movie was so different. And, in each movie, I believed Amy Adams WAS the character she was playing! She is "girl next door" pretty. I can imagine being her friend without being intimidated!
The first movie I saw was Julie and Julia. I didn't realize until the end that the story was based on a real person who really blogged and earned a huge following from it. I loved it! Amy plays Julie, the main character. Meryl Streep plays Julia!

The next was one I had put on my Netflix list and sort of forgot about, Sunshine Cleaning. I've never heard of another movie anything like this one. Two sisters open a company that cleans up crime scenes. They have to learn the ins and outs of handling bio-hazards. It, too, was wonderful! Amy plays Rose, the sister with all of the good sense!
Doubt was another Netflix rental. I've had it sitting on the shelf for a couple of weeks because I thought the subject matter would be too dark. I wanted to watch it and I didn't want to watch it. With no books to listen to and projects to work on in front of the TV, I popped the DVD in. I nearly flipped when I saw Amy, again! And, again, I liked her! She played a nun alongside an unlikeable Meryl Streep nun. But the two work so well on screen together. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Even though it wasn't a "happy" movie, the relationships in it were interesting to watch.

This morning, I ran to the grocery store. The Red Box just outside the door beckoned to me. While perusing the choices and trying to find something to entertain my boys on this frigid Saturday, I grabbed Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. I was struck dumb at the sight of Amy Adams as Amelia Earhart. It wasn't as good as the previous movies mentioned, but it kept all four of us entertained for a couple of hours.

Out of curiosity, I went to Netflix and entered Amy's name and added Junebug to my list of movies to be sent to me. I'll let you know if it's any good. And be on the look-out for Leap Year. It might be coming out soon in a theater near you.

I think she is also the lead in "Enchanted". a kind of modern take on a fairy tale. I have it and can let you borrow it if you want!!

I LOVED Julie and Julia! My husband and I watched it at the cinema and laughed all the way through. I hadn't realised she was in Doubt too...I'm hopeless at recognising people or remembering where I've seen them before! Oh, and I agree, Enchanted is just magical, I've seen it 3 times now (I have young daughters, that's my excuse!!)
